This scene is a very passionate love scene. The audience is able to capture the sexual tension between the ‘forbiddin’ lovers.
The scene starts with them gradually getting closer, and without any music to distract you from the situation you’re only focused around the action about to take place. When their lips finally meet it is passionate and exciting. But suddenly we’re taken away from it by Edward flying backwards. By having the sudden separation it basically leaves the audience wanting more.
Edward’s desire for Bella is so strong that he constantly has to hold himself back for fear of biting her. By having this strong desire this draws the viewers in, and they can relate their relationships to this.
The camera shots before they actually kiss are over the shoulder reverse shots, this enables us to see both of their facial expressions and get a sense of what they are feeling. The camera then goes into a close up of both the characters profiles, this lets the audience see what is going on as if they were actually in the room.
The lighting in this scene is slightly dimmed, i feel that this makes the scene more romantic and mysterious.
I feel that the kiss was built up tremendously during the film so when it actually happens the excitement and passion of the audience is 100% focused on the screen.
From this scene i think we can defiantly use some of the techniques used her to create this moving kiss.
